Tea, coffee and decaf reduce the risk of diabetes

Tea, it makes Zen coffee, it excites … Yes but not only. According to recent analysis of 18 studies, regular consumption of these two hot drinks is associated with a significant reduction in risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The type 2 diabetes (T2DM) is a disorder linked to our lifestyle, especially favored by overweight and physical inactivity. Some even speak of an epidemic of T2DM and according to projections, this will be 380 million people around the world who will be achieved in 2025.

It is therefore important to better understand the circumstances favoring the emergence of this disease, cause complications in the long term.

Rachel Huxley of the University of Sydney (Australia) and his team, before the finding of several studies indicating a favorable effect of coffee or tea, have decided to compile data from 18 studies on this subject, nearly 500 000 participants.

Their finding? Each additional cup of coffee consumed quotidiennenment reduces the risk of T2DM by 7%. Thus, those who drink 3 or 4 cups per day saw their risk of developing T2DM reduced by 25% compared to those who consume less than two! Suffice to say that this news should provide a good excuse for the small black addicts.

For fans of deca, the risk is reduced by 30%, provided in drinking 3 or 4 cups per day. Finally, with regard to the tea-philes, 3 or 4 cups per day is 20% less risk.

But why such a protective effect? The fact that consumption of deca is it also associated with decreased risk of diabetes immediately excluded caffeine as a potential candidate. The authors suggest a role of other components found in these drinks, such as magnesium and antioxidants.

However, remember that to reduce any overweight, having a balanced diet and regular physical exercise (walking 30 minutes a day) are still the best defense against this disease, “reducing the risk of 40 to 50%, “said Professor RydĂ©n, spokesman of the European Society of Cardiology, who also recalls that coffee can have adverse effects on the cardio-vascular, although for now there is no evidence from scientific evidence to that effect ..
