Founded by an American cardiologist, this method is based on a low calorie diet.</p>
<p>American cardiologist, Scarsdale realized by treating former prisoners of war in Vietnam, those who experienced the internment camps &#8211; and therefore a very limited supply &#8211; were of a cardiovascular standpoint, in much better conditions than those who remained at the front. He deduced this paradoxical finding that hyponutrition the first had proved more beneficial than the hypernutrition of seconds. Scarsdale has used it to develop his method.</p>
<p><span id="more-30"></span><strong>Basic rules of Scarsdale Plan </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Do not drink alcohol or drink sweet.</li>
<li>Between meals, not eating anything other than carrots or celery discretion.</li>
<li>The only drinks allowed are: black coffee, regular or decaffeinated coffee, tea, tonic water without sugar, water diet whatever perfume. You can drink whenever they wish.</li>
<li>Season all salads without oil or mayonnaise or any condiment rich. Use only lemon and vinegar.</li>
<li>Prepare and eat vegetables without butter or margarine or oil or other fats. Use lemon instead.</li>
<li>The meat must be very thin, degreased and prepared without oil or butter.</li>
<li>It is not absolutely necessary to consume all the ingredients listed, but do not substitute them by others or to add. Keep the combinations indicated.</li>
<li>Do not overload the stomach stop when you feel satiated.</li>
<li>Do not extend this treatment beyond two weeks.</li>
<li>Repeat exactly the same program two weeks.</li>

<p>Then move to a maintenance diet. Schemes of this kind are few restrictions but still allow many freedoms.</p>
<p><strong>Foods banned the Scarsdale diet </strong></p>
<p>In the Scarsdale diet, foods are prohibited:</p>
<p>-          Sugar: use only low calorie sweetener;</p>
<p>-          Potatoes, pasta and any product made of flour;</p>
<p>-          The dairy fat.</p>
<p>-          Configurations, desserts and other sweets. Only fruit or sugar free gelatin;</p>
<p>-          A maximum of 2 slices of bread per day;</p>
<p>-          120 ml of wine per day (dry unsweetened) or 220 ml of low calorie beer (avoid normal beers).</p>
<p><strong>Maintaining his weight after the diet Scarsdale </strong></p>
<p>The staple foods in a maintenance regime are:</p>
<p>-          Celery and carrots in all cases.</p>
<p>-          All lean meats (including pork), fish, fresh or frozen. These foods should preferably be roasted and cooked without fat.</p>
<p>-          Crustaceans and molluscs (served without sauce calorie).</p>
<p>-          Eggs in whatever form, prepared without butter or oil or margarine.</p>

<p>In general it is important to adopt a diet low in calories, avoiding fat and sugar in favor of protein.
