Non 12 Step Drug Rehab Programs offer Full Recovery Options

Non 12 step drug rehab programs are increasing in popularity across the nation as more and more people find they work better to cure alcohol and drug addicts. Most drug rehabilitation programs still feature the original 12 step program used for alcohol treatment for decades however. This 12 step treatment program didn’t work for everyone as many people are not interested in a spiritually based program. This may go against their basic beliefs, or they may simply not want to mix religion and recovery together.

Non 12 step drug rehab has one very important difference from the traditional 12 step program as it offers a person a full recovery from their addiction. In the 12 step program, particularly Alcoholics Anonymous, an addicted person is taught they are always an addict even if they are not using. Recovering alcoholics are encouraged to attend weekly meetings as alcohol treatment while continuing to live their normal lives with the 12 step program.

For many people, whether their addiction is to drugs or alcohol, this simply isn’t possible. They need to learn coping mechanisms to replace the drugs or alcohol but the 12 step program’s belief in a higher power wasn’t the right mechanism. Today, everyone, no matter what their beliefs, can find an alcohol or drug rehabilitation program with a philosophy that they can adhere to.
