Care Worker Job Hunting
There seem to be as many care worker job placement agencies around as there are clients. Many of the jobs posted are however duplicates of the same client customers listing the same jobs with numerous agencies. That doesn’t mean that the jobs are not plentiful as they are, it just shows you what demand there are for the limited number of care worker jobs that are open and the competition between agencies to get and offer these openings. It is a lucrative business for them and can be for you. Don’t just grab the first opening you see listed. Check several agencies when looking for a position and if you have the time compare the qualifications and pay rates each one offers.
Some employment services are acting as agents and get a percentage for each qualified applicant they supply to the client employer. Others are actually the employers themselves who then contract you out to the employer. The same job could be offered as a direct job from one agent and as a contract job from another. The same work, the same environment at two different rates of pay. Others are just job posting boards that want to collect a fee from you just for sending you on an interview.
Others still don’t even arrange interviews and just resell information that your can find on the Internet or in the post for free. Even the coveted social care jobs are marketed the same way. Be sure you know what kind of company you are dealing with. Full service agencies are worth the cost to you if any, and many highly regarded placement services are paid for their services by the employers themselves and not the applicants. Approach your job search with an open mind and open eyes.
